Spring is in the air and other hopeful musings

Well, it’s freezing cold and miserable out and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to live vicariously through smiling happy models posing in warm whimsical places.

See? Don’t Lindsey Wixon and Frida Gustavsson look like they’re having the time of their lives next to that giant melting ice cream cone in pretty sunny Mulberry-land?

When it comes to getting the seasons straight, the fashion universe has it pretty backwards. But not only are calendars obviously irrelevant, the ol’ show-warm-weather-looks-in-the-dead-of-winter thing gives us all the opportunity to revel in premature spring campaigns that are lovely and sunshiny. From beach parties to dinner parties, here’s a roundup of shots from the last week.

D&G releases its final campaign before closing up shop forever, shot by  Giampaolo Sgura.

Models are messy too. Steven Meisel captures them looking like slobs for Balenciaga.

Beautiful people dine with snakes like it’s no big deal. Shot by Steven Meisel.

Natasha Poly travels back to the 1950s in that notorious body suit real humans can’t pull off. Shot by Steven Meisel.

Models who aren’t Arizona Muse wear pretty flowing dresses. Shot by Glen Luchford.

Which ones are your favorite?

I always dine with snakes on my table.. Doesn’t everyone?
I love this blog entry. I definitely have stared wistfully at a lot of spring fashion shoots wishing that I was some place warm rather than shivering my way through my chilly Jersey winter.

I like your statement “that notorious body suit real humans can’t pull off.” So true. 🙂
