NYFW Day Eight: Hats off

One time in fourth grade I wore an enormous black velvet bucket hat with a bow to a Girl Scouts meeting and this girl made fun of me and I said “whatever” but really I was scarred and swore I’d never wear hats again. But if there’s anything I’ve learned this season at fashion week, it’s that hats make the look. From throwback newsboy caps to unexpectedly sleek fedoras, I bid farewell to NYFW with a roundup of some of the best headwear to hit the runway in the last eight days.

Nicholas K models channeled angry cowboys.

Mara Hoffman put a modern twist on the classic black bowler hat.

Carlos Miele introduced Western influences to red carpet looks.

Donna Karan’s luxury collection came straight out of a 1940s detective flick.

Ohne Titul mixed Peter Pan with geometry to create these interesting toppers.

Whimsy turned pimp at the Dickensian Marc Jacobs show.

Playful train conductors took center stage at Marc by Marc Jacobs.

There’s nothing more dapper than a girl in a top hat…except for a girl in a top hat with a walking stick.

And now, on to London. But first, which look did you like the best? Any other trends you noticed this week that you’re dying to try out?
